Heritage Insurance recently contributed Kshs. 250,000 to the Hoywik Educational Children Centre in Kibera as part of the Nelson Mandela Day celebrations. The school caters for orphans.

Heritage insurance together with the South African High Commission together with other corporates pledged to support the school which caters to orphans and destitute children from the sprawling Kibera slums.

Heritage Insurance’s contribution will be channeled to chairs, desks and books which the school needs urgently.

Nelson Mandela Day is a big day for everyone and there are lots of activities centered around it both locally and in other countries – linked to charity and improving other people’s lives.

On Heritage Insurance’s participation, the firm’s Managing Director John Milne says, “We are keen on supporting educational initiatives with particular focus in areas where we operate.”

Heritage Insurance also has an existing program where we put 16 children through high school every year by paying fees, buying uniforms and mentoring them over the 4 years.
